Inter-Intra Community
Spiritual care for incarcerated Muslims: Connectedness between and within communities
About Inter-Intra Community
We just got started as Inter-Intra Community but we've been doing the work of helping system-impacted Muslims for almost a decade. We are a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide compassionate one-on-one spiritual care to incarcerated Muslims as a complement to existing services and programs, fostering hope, a renewed connection to faith, achieving personal growth, and positive contributions to society.

The name "Inter-Intra" ('Inter' meaning between and 'Intra' meaning within) describes the connectedness between and within communities of all aspects, specifically incarcerated and free-world. It may not sound like a big deal but writing letters, weekly phone calls, and monthly video visits can make a major difference in the quality of life for an incarcerated individual.
We also believe all people deserve the opportunity to contribute positively to their communities whether behind bars or the free-world. Charity doesn't have to start once a citizen returns home. They can begin their transformation right where they are so that when they are released back to their community, they can feel hopeful with a new outlook on life that many could not find before and during their incarceration.
